The second best, or not?

Forgive dear kind readers,

For I have been in hiding for the last month, running around in the name of college fest and hiding behind books. Even though my end of semester exams are going on, the bookshelf draws me back, showing those amazing places I can go through this portal than the textbooks.

So without further adieu, since I have a lot to make up for the lost time, lets get down to the bookish business!

The first book gives you the taste of how the future is going to be with its amazing story line, great characters and a cliffhanger that screams: Read the next book!

But is the second book capable of breaking the expectation and hype given by the first?

Exactly, depends on which book I’m talking about. It’s none other than The Sins Of The Father, Clifton Chronicles part #2, by Jeffrey Archer.

So the second book in the series brings us back to where we had left of in the first, Harry Clifton in the US prison. It gives us clarity as to why did Harry end up there? then comes the story of how he is going to get out. The journey of Harry, Emma and Giles as they fight through the maze of life towards their individual goals keeps the story interesting.

My Take: I was seriously unsatisfied with the book as I expected more depth than what is given. The story just progresses {just like life, but without any of the trauma registering} leaving the reader emotionally detached to the characters. But somewhere I did like the story so not completely a waste. Once again a prior warning: the book contains a cliffhanger {obviously!}.

So I decided to rate the book: 2.75/4 stars. Just to answer a question, maybe the second books always have a huge expectation to match and hence, fail when it comes to taking a reader across to that level. What do you think? Leave your opinion as well!
